The integrity of Halal certification is of utmost importance to HFCE. Therefore, there are clear protocols in place to address situations where standards are not maintained:
- Suspension: This is a temporary halt to the certification. It may occur if there’s a breach in compliance or if HFCE identifies areas of concern during regular audits. During suspension, companies are given a specified period to address and rectify these concerns.
- Withdrawal: The Halal certificate can be fully withdrawn if a company fails to address issues leading to a suspension or if there are repeated instances of non-compliance. Once withdrawn, a product cannot be marketed as Halal certified by HFCE until it undergoes a fresh certification process.
- Reduction: If a company no longer produces certain products under the Halal standards or if some products are found non-compliant, the certification scope may be reduced. This means only specific products, and not the entire range, will carry the HFCE Halal certification.
- Notification: In the event of suspension, withdrawal, or reduction, HFCE will notify the company in writing, explaining the reasons and expected corrective actions.
- Reinstatement: Post suspension, once corrective actions are satisfactorily implemented and verified by HFCE, the certification can be reinstated.
- Right to Appeal: Companies have the right to appeal against decisions made regarding their certification status. The appeal process is clear, fair, and outlined in the certification agreement.
Companies are encouraged to maintain open communication with HFCE, promptly address any concerns raised, and ensure consistent adherence to Halal standards to prevent any suspension or withdrawal scenarios.
